Dormitories

Dorms are undoubtedly the cheapest option for living in Košice. Prices vary, but can be as low as 100 euros per month. As well, they give you the opportunity to share your everyday life with other Erasmus students. Information about dormitories should be provided by your university. We recommend you to check the links below or talk about your options with your Erasmus coordinator.

Renting a flat

Renting a flat has many advantages, especially privacy and comfortable environment. You can choose to live privately or share a flat with other Erasmus students. Prices for small apartments start at 400 euros per months and for a single room you might pay a minimum of 200 euros.

Pieces of advice before renting an apartment:

  1. Some landlords don´t speak English. Don´t hesitate to use Google translator! (they will appreciate if you message them in Slovak) or ask for help from ESNers.

  2. The prices of many apartments include gas, internet, electricity, water etc... of course, if you consume more than the contract says, you have to pay the extra fee.

  3. Apartment prices vary according to the area. If you see a cheap apartment (which is everyone’s preference), check google maps if the locality suits you.

  4. Always READ carefully THE CONTRACT and if it's in Slovak, ask someone to translate it for you. Check every item that is listed in the contract (how many chairs there are, desks, desk lamps etc)

  5. If the house you rented has any damages, REPORT them immediately to the landlord!

  6. The landlord has the right to check the apartment. Keep it clean as if it was yours!
