1/10/2016 Activity Day (ZOO+ Bob Sledge) + White Night Cntemporary Art Festival

The nice weather of the 1th Saturday of October was great opportunity to go to nature and enjoy first Sport Actvity with ESN KE. As every year this time, we went for a small and easy hicking trip into forrest of Kosice to enjoy magnificient view from Watching Tower „Podhradova“. It was quite windy upstairs, but that´s how Kosice looks alike (so at least it was authentic experience).

After this, we continued to ZOO Kavecany. ZOO of Košice is very famous for being the biggest ZOO of all 4 ZOOs in Slovakia, so it took us a lot of time (and energy) to walk around whole ZOO. More than 7 hectars, many animals of different spices and pleasant athmosphere took breaths away from more than 30 Erasmus students participated. Subsequently we enjoyed crazy ride on Bob Sledge situatued right next to the ZOO. Erasmus students were amazed by that exciting activity, so they repeated their rides many many times. It´s always great to try something new and if it makes you laugh and extremly happy it´s even better. We spent great time together in nature and we were ready for night event that was happening in Košice Downtown. We met in the evening to enjoy „Biela Noc/White Night/Nuit Blanche“ - festival of contemporary art of lights.

White night is the biggest and the most visited contemporary art festival in Slovakia. During this night, city is transformed into an interactive space of art. We made a tour around the city center to see several installations. We started with light and sound installation named "Happening" created by slovak artists Peter Vrabeľ and Braňo Bernár. Then we moved to Dominikanske namestie and we continued  with Latens which is an audiovisual mapping performance created by digital artist Maotik. Finally we admired another Maotik`s installation in the City park. This one, called Light Sowers, highlighted the beauty of the nature by the use of light. The lightning show and light installations impressed us a lot and we enjoyed little different night in Košice. The art is part of Košice too (because Košice was European Capital of Culture in 2013), so Erasmus students had opportunity to try this side of Košice with ESN KE team as well. ESN KE plans to visit another great cultural activities organized in Košice during winter term, so there will be enough opportunities for art-lovers.
