Become a Tourist in Your Own Town

Erasmus – surely it is about new school, new friends and new experiences as well as about getting to know a new culture in your new place of residence. In order to understand people living around you, it is necessary to know a bit about their history, too, and this is the reason we organised the City Tour.

To see the most beautiful parts of Košice took us about an hour and a half, during which we passed through historical centre of Košice. Our journey started at the Lower gate, where the preserved old walls used to protect the city. We continued in the Jewish part of the city, where we could see the Synagogue, the Butcherʼs house and his shop, and later the most romantic building in Košice Jakabʼs palace. We got back in time to František II. Rákoczi rebellion near to the Rodošto, and then moved towards the most important historical monuments in the city centre through the Craft street. Near the theatre, we could see the Cathedral of st. Elizabeth from the side of the singing fountain. Cathedral also attracted the attention with all the legends about it, the most popular one was about a wife of its architect.

To sum it up, we enjoyed lovely sunny walk around Košice and discovered a little bit of our history.
