Trip to TANAP

ESN members Rachel Galvanková and Soňa Géciová organised on the 1st of March the trip to our most beautiful and biggest mountains - High Tatras located in north of Slovakia, in the National Park TANAP. Tatras are full of majestic peaks over 2.500 amsl, turquoise lakes, unique plants and animals with clean air and environment. So we were proud to present this national natural treasure to our Erasmus students.

The event started in the morning on the train station in Košice.  We met as a group of 16 people , 8 Erasmus students and 8 ESN members.  After the funny time in the train, our hiking time could start in Starý Smokovec. We took an easy route to Hrebienok 1285 amsl. and visited a nice gallery in the Ice Castle with different ice sculptures. The sun was shining and we could enjoy the beautiful view of nature covered with snow. How many pictures we took!

It took just a few steps to a cottage called Bilíková chata , were we could warm up, eat traditional food and drink some tea.  After  little rest, the snow road took us around the mountains and waterfalls to small lovely cottage called Reinerova útulňa 1301 amsl. with a possibility  to have a break and drink something to warm up again. It is the oldest cottage in High Tatras and Mr.Reiner dedicated whole his life to keep this cottage for tourists. The route through the forests and rocks took us back to Hrebienok. The air was fresh , and the sun was shining , so the views were priceless. On the way back we had a small snowball fight to warm us up before going for the train.

Back in Starý Smokovec we had time till our train will arrive, so we decided to visit a restaurant to enjoy the last meal before going home. We had pancakes, plum dumplings, hot tea and great time again! A beautiful day passed so quickly and we arrived back to Košice at 6 p.m. Tired but full of pleasure and joy from lovely sunny mountain day.

Hope you had a great time with us! Your ESN Košice team :)
