4/10/2016 World Animal Day

Martin Buber (Jewish philosopher) once said „An animal´s eyes have the power to speak a great language.“ In Erasmus+ Student Programme we cover many various languages, e.g. French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish etc. but to understand each other better we mostly use English. On the other hand, the language of animals is universal. You don´t need to understand dog-language to understand your dog. When he is jumping around you, you know he is happy to be with you. If your cat is purring while lying on your lap it´s also expression of her happiness. Animals are talking to us by their behaviour, which is clearly understandable for all the world´s nationalities. No matter where are you from, you understand language of animals. So perfect example of integration...don´t you think?

Pets are said to be the best friends of human and for many of us they are truly members of family. So, if you are leaving your home because of your Erasmus+ Studying Programme, you are leaving not just your family and friends but also your pet. 4th of October is known to be World Animal Day. It was great opportunity to show love to some pets in Dog´s Shelter in Kosice. Unfortunatelly, the weather was really bad that day, so at least ESN KE prepared online Social Erasmus event. We asked Erasmus students (and ESN members) about their photos with pets which they are missing during Erasmus stay in foreign country. The event met success and during the day we received many photos of Erasmus students with their beloved dogs, cats, parakeets or parrots. It was all glorious photos with beautiful animals and happy faces of their owners.

In the end of the day we had about 19 amazing photos which we put into one big photo collage. Collage was uploaded to ESN KE official facebook site and received many „likes“ not just from this-year-Erasmus students. The aim was to show that animals are important part of our lives. We treat them with compassion, sensitivity and emphaty, we care about them and we LOVE them a lot...because „Until one has loved an animal, a part of one´s soul remains unawakened“ (Anatole France).

The final photo collage can be seen under.
