Trip to Bardejov

On 17th November 2012 ESN Košice organized a one day trip to Bardejov city and spa. The main coordinator was as usually for Bardejov trips, Eva Daňková and the second coordinator Veronika Eibenová. Eleven Erasmus students joined us on the trip.

After we arrived to Bardejov, the city inscribed on the UNESCO heritage list, we went to see the medieval walls in the historical city centre. Later we went to the main square where we saw historical buildings and the main monument – the gothic church of St. Egidius. It was quite cold so we decided to visit a patisserie in the city centre and warm up with hot chocolate. However, it seems some didn’t need to warm up because they ordered ice-cream! Later we went to a small park dedicated to The Beatles. There were rocks on which names of band members and names of their most famous songs are engraved. Afterwards we walked through city and went to a restaurant to eat lunch. We had traditional Slovak meal – bryndzové halušky - sheep-cheese-dumplings and cumin soup. After filling our hungry stomachs moved to the area of Bardejov spa where we enjoyed traditional spa wafers and visited an open air museum of Slovak culture with historical Slovak houses, a wooden church and typical folklore clothing. Then we moved to last point of our schedule - three hours of wellness saunas and swimming pools.

To sum it up, it was a nice day when we had the opportunity to get to know new people, Slovak culture and relax a bit.
